In my garden there is a large place for sentiment.  My garden of flowers is also my garden of

thoughts and dreams.  The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful.

In the below video you can see a Downy Woodpecker feeding form our upside-down suet feeder. Over the past several years we have seen Downy, Hairy, Pileated, and Redheaded woodpeckers, along with Flickers, eat from this feeder. But we have never seen all of them in the same season. We only saw the Redheaded W.P. one time.  Also Chickadees often eat from this feeder.

In the video below a Crimson Crested Woodpecker is attempting to drive an Olive Whipsnake away from her nest. The bird was bitten five times in the struggle. The Crimson Crested Woodpecker lays two eggs in her nest which are incubated by both the male and the female. These snakes often search woodpecker holes in search of eggs or chicks for food. The four minute confrontation was video taped by an engineer from Israel while on vacation on the Tarapa River in Peru. The woodpecker is thought to have died from its injuries.
